I'm keeping fingers crossed for the weather. Foundation pour is supposed to happen in a few days. I didn't get there until they were covered up. I don't think I shared a pic after our footers went in, so here you go. I just find myself ooing and ahing over things that were not on the market yet last year, or discovering that one light I loved now made in a much more affordable version. (Like if I did brass modern, this could dictate whether I go modern in the rest of the house, ie tub fixtures which I had to choose early.) All these choices are easier if your timeline is tight and short. And I knew I needed to choose a few of the central design lights for the kitchen/dining, since so many other decisions can hinge on those. We also had to choose some of our plumbing fixtures early since many of them come with the parts that go in the wall, attached to pipes. Those I was not as worried about, since we are not waiting to move in, but I k new to order those sooner than later (but even those designers are now releasing new versions.) And our appliance delivery times have been a nightmare. I literally stuffed the inside and the top of our van and drove six hours to deliver them. Then HVAC ducts needed to be fully in for another inspection and we had to drive to every HD and Lowe's in a 100 miles radius of a city to find what we still needed since everyone of the suppliers were out. We could not be dried in until windows were all delivered and a few of those took over a year, which backed up our inspection schedules. Each inspection can get delayed when parts are missing. We halted when the wood prices skyrocketed in summer of 21. Yes, the shortages slowed us down considerably. We are in the finishing stages now, and should be asking for a CO by the end of Feb, hopefully. Grading began in winter of 2021, foundation broke ground May of 2021. Engineering stages began end of 2019 onward. Are you waiting for it to arrive or for it to be We are owner builders. But I think it will still look great, all We didn't have any issues with siding. Is that an optical illusion? If you want that contrast, then your purchase is too white. Naomi's issue sounds pretty big, B The inspo picture looks like ivory, though the sides and walls look white. If flaw is small, I'd just fix it myself. Too big of a mistake for us to be the ones to repaint it, after that much money, which was more my point in my post in the first place. Then they repainted the siding the correct blue, the fascia white, but then weirdly painted the area above each window from fascia down to the window white, too. First they bought the wrong paint and painted our house purple. Wait, those house painters did make several mistakes. Waiting for dishwasher and fridge repair folk, well, that's a whole different story. I've just never needed subs to come back to fix paint or stain. Maybe there's a can lurking in our basement. Actually, when we had our current house repainted- we hired out and I don't recall leftovers. (oh, and get those windows ordered.those took us nearly a year to fully We're usually the painters and stainers, so yes, we kindly leave ourselves leftovers, Lol. Hard to tell color with the shadows, but I'm pleased. Yesterday is my first glimpse of paint job in progress, from son's photo. It took me forever to finally get the color right on my house, and adding a third color to the palette would probably break me. (There are slide out shelves inside the vanity's cabinet ends, and when we convert for plumbing, we will claim four of the slides for somewhere else in our kitchen build.) I would have cannibalized it just for the slides, even if I didn't want the wood, I cannot help you with trim color. My vanity is a good example sure, it's not a midcentury look that is the rage now, but it's classic and pretty and the 12 heavy duty blum drawer slides inside add up to way more than we paid for the whole thing. The beautiful and fine, well-made furniture that people reject is often better than anything out there that is new. As you know, I've done that new-to-me thing with a bunch of items in this new house. I'm going to do the same with a bed as soon as I find the one I want. ![]() ![]() Looks like select oak, but color varies from pic to pic? I cannot wait to see it with its finishes. What wood is that? I can often tell, but the grain isn't clear. ![]() B What product and color are your floors? They look great.Īnd similar question.
